Abstract|This paper deals with the recovery of 3D information using a single mobile camera in the context of active vision. First, we propose a general revisited formulation of the structure-from-known-motion issue. Within the same formalism, we handle various kinds of 3D geometrical primitives such as points, lines, cylinders, spheres, etc. We also aim at minimizing eeects of the diierent measurement errors which are involved in such a process. More precisely, we mathematically determine optimal camera conngurations and motions which lead to a robust and accurate estimation of the 3D structure parameters. We apply the visual servoing approach to perform these camera motions using a control law in closed-loop with respect to visual data. Real-time experiments dealing with 3D structure estimation of points and cylinders are reported. They demonstrate that this active vision strategy can very signiicantly improve the estimation accuracy.

The role of moments in image normalization and invariant pattern recognition is addressed. The classical idea of the principal axes is analyzed and extended to a more general definition. The relationship between moment-based normalization, moment invariants, and circular harmonics is established. Invariance properties of moments, as opposed to their recognition properties, are identified using ...
متن کاملPhotorealistic Monocular Gaze Redirection Using Machine Learning.
We propose a general approach to the gaze redirection problem in images that utilizes machine learning. The idea is to learn to re-synthesize images by training on pairs of images with known disparities between gaze directions. We show that such learning-based re-synthesis can achieve convincing gaze redirection based on monocular input, and that the learned systems generalize well to people an...
متن کاملFixed Points of Belief Propagation - An Analysis via Polynomial Homotopy Continuation.
Belief propagation (BP) is an iterative method to perform approximate inference on arbitrary graphical models. Whether BP converges and if the solution is a unique fixed point depends on both the structure and the parametrization of the model. To understand this dependence it is interesting to find all fixed points.
متن کاملAn Algorithmic Analysis of Variational Models for Perceptual Local Contrast Enhancement
Color cast cancellation and local contrast enhancement are very important problems in computer vision. In this paper we review the algorithm proposed by Palma-Amestoy et al. [A perceptually inspired variational framework for color enhancement, IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, 21 (2009), pp. 458–474], present results and evaluate the impact of a change in the param...
